Running Free and Poole Parkrun
We are keeping it local in oncebyalys this week and it’s all about Parkrun and my local running shop Running Free both fantastic. I’ve been a massive Parkrun fan since I found out about it five years ago. It’s a free very well organized 5km run on a Saturday morning. Founded by Paul Sinton-Hewitt in 2004, the idea of Parkrun grew from the initial Bushy Parkrun event (originally called Bushy Park Time Trial) into a small collection of events called the UK Time Trials and then into Parkrun (2010). Events now take place every week in Australia, Denmark, Ireland, New Zealand, Poland, Russia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Singapore, the Czech Republic, the United States, Italy and France. So fingers crossed you can find one near you. For me the best thing is your weekend workout is completed by 9:30am on Saturday Morning and the rest of the weekend is yours! In the UK alone there are 939,682 runners in 396 locations and the runners have run a total of more than 530 Years.
There is one thing I believe is the most important for a runner whether you are a new starter or a seasoned veteran you must have a well fitted pair of shoes! At my local running shop Running Free you get a Full Fitting Service. For the fitting you are asked to run on the treadmill and are filmed by GAIT Analysis. Abigail and Eve will also look at other things about how you’re running like where your impact and weak points are.
Most of you will know that I am an Asics follower and have been for years. They make the best functioning and performing shoes for many sports. I have had only Asics Running shoes for more than 10 years. Running free has all the up to date Asics and other shoe brands and at the moment have a 50% sale on the last seasons stock. Running Free stock all your running needs from Clothing and shoes to accessories. Their gear has been carefully selected by the owner Oliver himself. They also get a pick of a few items you won’t see any where else so it’s totally worth a visit. There are plans to sell online soon so watch their website for more details. Thank you to Eve, Abigail and Laura for the fantastic shoe fitting service and helping pick my Parkrun outfit. I’m loving the new cropped Nike Epic Lux leggings, they are great for both Gym workouts and running. The Nike Dri-fit long sleeve top is the prefect layer for running this time of year. Also for the new Asics running shoes if you’re local be sure to check them out if you’re a reader of oncebyalys let them know and they will give you a 10% discount. See you soon Running Free.
It was 5 years of Parkrun this month and to mark the occasion Poole Parkrun did a Where’s Wally Parkrun… it was a total blast. Lets just say I had more fun and didn’t get a Personal Best. Thanks for reading lovelies. xx
